SMALL GROUPS- Initiate, ACTIVATE, Demonstrate

Small Groups are an important part of the body of Christ. Each person should have people around them that can do life together. Life is not meant to be lived alone, and for those who do-it can end up very sad. The thought that keeps coming back to me as I look at SMall Group LIfe @ ECC this year is this. SMALL GROUPS must ACTIVATE. Activate is a word that gets most of its meanings from science. Check out it's meanings:
–verb (used with object), -vat·ed, -vat·ing.
1. to make active; cause to function or act.
2. Physics .
a. to render more reactive; excite: to activate a molecule.
b. to induce radioactivity.
3. to aerate (sewage) in order to accelerate decomposition of impure organic matter by microorganisms.
4. Chemistry .
a. to make (carbon, a catalyst, molecules, etc.) more active.
b. to hasten (reactions) by various means, as heating.
5. to place (a military unit or station) on an active status in an assigned capacity.

When I read that definition-I think immediately that is what small group life should be about at ECC. It has been said that faith needs to be initiated, activated, and demonstrated. I think the same is true for SMALL GROUP LIFE. We must activate ourselves into small groups. This is where we will grow, be challenged, live life-bothe the ups and downs with others. We are about creating cultures that provide opportunities for discipleship, connecting in God's Word, and holding each other up. To do that, some of us must RE-activate. Let's stop talking about it now-and this year let's ACTIVATE small group life.
